Cetil dispensers at Europe's first public hydrogen station for buses

A few days ago, the Madrid Municipal Transport Company (EMT) inaugurated the first public hydrogen refuelling station for buses in Europe. Located in the Entrevías Operations Centre, this innovative facility represents a significant advance in sustainable public mobility in our country, positioning itself as a benchmark in the development of infrastructure for alternative fuels.

We are very proud to be part of this project, which will allow ten hydrogen-powered buses on Madrid's line 145 to refuel at one of our two Cetil E30 H2 A dispensers. These dispensers have been designed in strict compliance with international regulatory requirements and manufactured with high-quality materials. Our E30 H2 A dispensers provide the market with a technologically advanced and reliable solution, reinforcing our position in the field of clean fuels.

The EMT Madrid hydrogen station is a comprehensive engineering project that covers the entire hydrogen cycle: production, compression, storage and distribution. This ambitious project, developed entirely by Spanish companies, reflects our commitment to innovation and our responsibility to sustainability.

Among the main components of the installation, the following stand out:

  •  A PEM electrolyser capable of generating around 18 kg of hydrogen per hour.
  • Two compressors.
  • Three storage tanks that operate at low, medium and high pressure.
  • Two Cetil dispensers, designed to allow efficient and safe filling of hydrogen tanks at a nominal pressure of 350 bars.

In operational terms, this system also offers significant advantages. The hydrogen buses assigned to line 145 have recharging times of less than 10 minutes and a range of approximately 280 kilometres, allowing them to operate for up to 20 hours of continuous service.

In addition to the two dispensers installed to supply the new EMT Madrid buses, we are collaborating with Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) through two hydrogen dispensers, which will be expanded to four by early 2025. We are also working to bring our hydrogen solutions to cities in Portugal, such as Porto and Cascais, as well as to strategic points in Germany and Poland, expanding our presence in the European hydrogen market.

With our participation in the first public hydrogen station for buses in Europe, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainable mobility and technological innovation, developing solutions that drive a cleaner and more efficient future.
